SAFETY
First Phase: The initial phase will involve the installation of temporary paving and new drainage along Gunnery Road, which will necessitate the closure of sidewalks. This means that pedestrians should anticipate detours and plan alternative routes for safe passage. During this phase traffic will remain in its current configuration.
Second Phase: In the second phase, Buckingham Road will be closed at from Gunnery Road to Sunset Road. Southbound Buckingham Road traffic will be redirected via a detour to Gunnery Road then turn right at Sunset Road then left back onto Buckingham Road to continue south. Northbound Buckingham Road traffic will be redirected via a detour to turn right onto Sunset Road, then left onto Gunnery Road to continue onto Buckingham Road north. Additionally, temporary traffic signals will be installed at both the intersections of Buckingham Road and Sunset Road, as well as Gunnery Road and Sunset Road. Sidewalks will remain closed during this phase.
Third Phase: In the third phase, Gunnery Road will be closed from Buckingham Road to just before Sunset Road. Similar to the previous phase, a detour will guide traffic from Buckingham Road to Sunset Road and then back onto Gunnery Road. Access to Gunnery Baptist Church on Gunnery Road will remain in all phases. Temporary traffic signals will remain in place. Sidewalk closures will continue throughout this phase.
Fourth Phase: In this final phase, traffic will be in the new configuration utilizing the roundabout for all traffic movements. Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures while crews complete the remaining portions of the roundabout.
