Public Involvement

Buckingham Road and Gunnery Road Roundabout Project Phase 1: This project will enhance traffic flow and safety at this intersection, which features two (2) lane undivided arterial roadways. The improvements include the reconstruction of the intersection into a single-lane roundabout, designed to facilitate smoother vehicle movement while reducing congestion. Additionally, the project will incorporate pedestrian facilities to ensure safe crossing options for foot traffic, along with improved lighting to enhance visibility during nighttime hours. Landscaping efforts will be included to beautify the area, and comprehensive drainage and stormwater treatment systems will be implemented to manage runoff effectively and protect local water quality.

 Drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists are urged to use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

• Crews will be installing temporary paving along Gunnery Road.
• Crews will be installing new drainage along Gunnery Road, which will necessitate the closure of sidewalks. This means pedestrians should anticipate detours and plan alternative routes for safe passage.
• During Phase 1, traffic will remain in its current configuration.

Expect large construction vehicles in the area and watch for contractors in the field. The contractors will use Variable Message Boards (VMB) to notify the public about any traffic pattern changes during construction. The contractor is V & H Construction, Inc. The project is expected to be completed in one year. Work is estimated to be complete spring of 2026. Work is expected to occur Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM; however, some night and weekend work may be necessary.
